Leading the Way Holiday Style

As the holidays approach, hours in the day will quickly slip away. Starting this weekend, many people will all be running around in circles trying to make travel plans to visit family or getting our holiday shopping done.

Businesses abbreviate hours, schools close, and we all seemingly transform ordinary weekends into extended long-distance visits. Daylight savings time will settle in and somehow the hours we have to complete projects will become limited, right? Wrong!

If we take command of our destiny and lead ourselves accordingly we can re-direct ourselves during the crazed holiday season. Wouldn’t that be a sight to lead the way without the mayhem at Christmas, Hanukkah, Kwanzaa, and New Year’s Eve 2011?

Here are few ways we might consider taking on that charge:

Balance – Take a few minutes to lead yourself into the abyss with some balanced moments of reflection. Pause between projects and gatherings just enough to collect your thoughts and stay focused on what you will be doing in January after the holidays pass.

Prioritize – Re-group and make sure that the goals you are accomplishing are the ones you have set for yourself and not ones that someone else has dreamed up for you. Do not allow yourself to get derailed. Too many times there are the best of intention but these do not fit within your agenda.

Collaboration – Do not try to accomplish your holiday shopping and cooking projects alone. Be sure to enlist the support family and friends. Once you let them in on your big plans to maximize the holiday season, they will be glad to lend a hand.

All the best with taking charge this holiday season!

Cheers!
