Leadership Tip: How To Stay In the Game

One of my favorite quotes is “life is not a spectator’s sport nor is it a dress rehearsal.” So, every leader must make time to stay involved and actively be a leader on and off the game of life.

Sometimes leaders think that staying proactive means just showing up. Wrong! That is not the case. Leaders must be in the game of life and work and stay engaged on a consistent basis. This means that leaders must have a variety of tools and skills. Some are soft skills and others are the stay engaged and involved.

In short, there are a few ways to ensure that you demonstrate your leadership skills. These are listed below and in a recent broadcast from my weekly live stream program, Leadership Reflections.

Some key points are as follows:

1. Have a vision and a game plan.
2. Make sure that you get game time.
3. Show tenacity and have courage.
4. Leverage timeouts.
5. Leave a memorable leadership legacy.
