Meet Guest Blogger: Cynthia Williams-Bey
Last year, I interviewed Cynthia Williams-Bey who is a dynamic woman leader, entrepreneur, and owner of Heaven Sent Child Care, LLC. She has been doing some exciting work throughout the community and abroad including publishing books and her new B.E.A.T (Breaking Everyday Average Thinking) program to inspire entrepreneurs. Here is an update and her contact information below.
In 2005, Cynthia was a single mother struggling to take care of her asthmatic son who could not stay out of the emergency room for the first few months of his life. Those circumstances caused her to miss work and ultimately resulted in her being placed on a final warning at her job with Bank of America. She was running out of options and there were no daycares in the City of Richmond that provided care after 6:00 p.m. That moment was her turning point.
By the time her son turned five months old, her journey as a full-time entrepreneur and started and the first of her three businesses, Heaven Sent Child Care LLC, was birthed. She started the business in a one-bedroom apartment with five children enrolled in the program. Now, Heaven Sent has grown into a commercial facility with over 40 children in care per shift.
Since 2005, Heaven Sent has assisted hundreds of single mothers who work non-traditional hours by providing care for their children through 12 midnight.
One of Mrs. Williams-Bey’s goals and purpose is to help women and men to use their unfavorable circumstances to their advantage. She could have given up when she was faced with choosing between her son and work, but she chose to change her thinking and figure out a way to be the solution for others as well.
Since last year, she has published 3 books including13 Things I Learned As An Entrepreneur, Seven Reasons To Keep Pushing, and Embracing You. She also recently launched my first course called ” Brooklyn Dream” under my new program called B.E.A.T (Breaking Everyday Average Thinking) for inspiring Entrepreneurs.
