Reality television has gone too far. Programming like The Apprentice, Survivor, and American Idol all smack of a heavy dose of sensationalism and only a pinch of authenticity. On most channels there are depictions of the most outrageous, the best of the best, the most death-defying, or the completely bizarre featured for a mind-starved public.

Our fathers should be celebrated. We should also recognize those who continuously serve as father figures. Families make arrangements for a special day out or prepare a unique meal. But, too often we forget to recognize the leadership lessons learned from them. In fact, their guidance is often a big reason everyday a success. Believe me, I know.

I’m just pondering the mouth-watering spices in my favorite dishes at Yank Sing in San Francisco and Meiwah in Washington, DC. The rich flavors blend and make for a memorable dining experience.
In the same way I think of a favorite dish, I also think of the special ingredients that make a superb blend of quality leadership. You know the kind I am talking about. These leaders are both kind and sophisticated.
